The bottom half is the Southern Hemisphere. The line splitting the globe in half on the first picture is called the equator. On the second picture the line is called the prime meridian. It splits the earth in half from north to south. The left half is called the western hemisphere. The one on the right is called the eastern hemisphere.

Different latitudes mean different temperatures. As you get farther from the equator, the colder it gets. The closer you get to the equator, the hotter it gets.
